After graduating high school, I packed up my car and made a solo out-of-state move to Bend, Oregon. In 2008, the yet-discovered mill town had a manageable population making the mountains feel extra big and Highway 97 was especially desolate. I chased my passion for the vast wilderness and received my bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Outdoor Leadership from Oregon State University-Cascades.
With my degree in one hand and motivation in the other, I quickly landed a job at Hydro Flask. After two years on the sales team, four years on the creative marketing team, and marketing experience with several other companies, I now consider myself a marketing guru.
It has been a long-term goal to pursue my enthusiasm for marketing and copywriting through the freelance avenue, allowing my obsession for the outdoors to remain balanced with my strong work ethic. Additionally, the flexibility of working for myself allows me to give back to the community through my volunteer efforts with Deschutes County Search & Rescue and Mt. Bachelor National Ski Patrol.
When not hard at work, you can find Tango and me enjoying an early morning walk along the Deschutes River, hooting around Mt. Bachelor, hot lapping the local mountain bike trails, kiteboarding with my dad, or enjoying an après pilsner at the local brewery!
Happy Trails & Happy Tails,
Taylor & Tango
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue is one of the largest, most active SAR units in Oregon. The Deschutes County Search and Rescue organization operates under the direction of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and is comprised of approximately 120 volunteers who donate their time and energy to participate in missions to rescue those lost or injured in the wilderness.
Search and rescue is a highly demanding volunteer experience, both in terms of training and actual missions. Our volunteers train and participate in teams with expertise in mountain rescue, swift water rescue, backcountry skiing, snowmobile, ATV, tracking, K9 searches, horseback searches, air searches, and wilderness medical treatment.
I am currently representing the ground, medical, snowmobile, and backcountry ski teams, in addition to Training Team Coordinator, 2026 Academy Assistant Team Coordinator, and Recruitment Coordinator. Recently, I have been nominated for a Field Team Leader role (FTL) and am a member of the Incident Management Team (IMT). Since 2020, I have dedicated over 1,300 hours of volunteer time and have responded to 70 missions.
